The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has said that Afghanistan has exceptional potential in the tourism sector and possesses diverse historical, cultural, and natural heritage.
The organization said on Sunday, September 27, marking World Tourism Day, that Afghanistan has ancient cities, historic mosques, natural landscapes and important archaeological sites.
UNAMA cited the Hindu Kush mountains, Bamyan Valley, the Herat Citadel and the Rawza Sharif in Mazar-e-Sharif as part of Afghanistan’s historical and cultural heritage.
The organization also described the ancient city of Balkh, Band-e Amir lakes, the Wakhan Corridor and the Bagh-e Babur as other important attractions in Afghanistan.
UNAMA added that these assets reflect Afghanistan’s history, diverse cultures and natural beauty.
The organization emphasized that Afghanistan’s historical, cultural and natural heritage represents an important part of the country’s potential in the tourism sector.
