The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says that vaccination is one of the most effective ways to protect children against polio in Afghanistan.
UNICEF wrote on its X page on Monday, June 22, that polio has no cure, but it can be fully prevented through vaccination.
The organization added that, with the support of the Government of Japan, polio vaccination programs continue across Afghanistan, and efforts are being made to ensure that all children have access to these services.
It is said that the aim of these programs is to prevent the spread of polio and protect children’s health from the disease.
This comes as many remote and underserved areas in Afghanistan still face the risk of polio outbreaks and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
