UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that its “Mother and Child Cash Transfer Programme” is supporting vulnerable families in Afghanistan.

The organization wrote on its X account on Monday, 20 July 2026, that the programme, with support from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), helps improve families’ access to health and nutrition services.

UNICEF said the programme aims to support mothers and children and provide them with the opportunity for a healthy start.

The United Nations Children’s Fund had previously also said that it provides nutritional supplements to pregnant women to help improve the health of mothers and newborns in Afghanistan.

These assistance efforts come as Afghanistan is facing widespread humanitarian crises, poverty, limited economic opportunities, and challenges in some families’ access to health services and food.
