Local sources in Kandahar province say that a man has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Kandahar city.

Sources confirmed on Monday evening, December 22, that the incident occurred in the Herat Bazaar area, in a location between the First and Second security districts of Kandahar city.

According to the sources, the victim was named Yasir and was engaged in his personal work at the time of the incident.

The sources added that the attackers fled the scene after opening fire.

The motive behind the killing remains unknown so far.

This comes as killings and arrests by unidentified gunmen have increased in various provinces of Afghanistan since the Taliban seized power.
