CNN, citing sources, reported that Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, the U.S. president’s son-in-law, will participate in planned peace talks with Iran to be held in Islamabad.
The network reported on Tuesday night, April 7, that the talks will be held with mediation by Pakistani officials and aim to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Vance’s travel schedule may be adjusted to allow him to attend in Islamabad; he is currently in Poland.
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif had invited U.S. and Iranian delegations to Islamabad to continue the talks.
These talks are seen as a new step in diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and establish a ceasefire between the two countries.
