The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided $3 million in food and nutrition assistance for vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan.
The organisation wrote on its X account on Thursday, August 20, that the assistance will be provided over the next 12 months to supply food and nutritional support to 24,500 vulnerable women and children across Afghanistan.
The World Food Programme thanked South Korea for its support for the people of Afghanistan.
The assistance comes as the United Nations has repeatedly warned of the economic crisis, poverty and hunger in Afghanistan and called for urgent aid.
Previously, the World Food Programme had also called on donor countries to continue their assistance to support vulnerable families in Afghanistan.
