The World Food Programme (WFP) has warned of rising hunger and malnutrition, saying that the future of children in Afghanistan is at risk.
In a message on Thursday, April 23, the programme added that in 2026, around 3.7 million children and one million women will face severe malnutrition.
The WFP said that it has supported nine million women and children.
The agency also stated that these assistance efforts are being carried out in cooperation with its partners, such as the United Kingdom.
The United Nations in Afghanistan has said that around 22 million people in the country depend on humanitarian assistance.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has requested $1.7 billion to respond to the needs of those in need.
