Local sources report that a woman accused of killing Abdul Rahman Moradi, a former member of Herat’s provincial council, was shot dead inside a Taliban court session in the province earlier today.

According to local sources who spoke to Hasht-e Subh daily on Saturday, September 27, the woman had been transferred from prison to the Taliban court for trial when the incident occurred around 10 a.m.

Witnesses said she was fatally shot inside the courtroom by her brother-in-law.

Sources added that her involvement in her husband’s death had not yet been proven in court, and it was possible she could have been declared innocent today.

The information is based on local accounts, and detailed, independently verified reports on the motive behind the killing have not yet been made available.
