Local sources say that a young man died by suicide in Tirin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 1, that the incident occurred the previous night in the Sarkhom area of Tirin Kot.
Bilal Uruzgan, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command in Uruzgan, said the young man died by suicide due to “family problems.”
The incident comes amid reports of an increase in suicide cases in Afghanistan in recent years, particularly in connection with economic and family-related problems.
However, no comprehensive official statistics have been published on the exact number of such incidents or the factors associated with them.
