Local sources say 10 drug smugglers from Chah Ab district of Takhar province were killed in an armed clash with Tajikistan’s border guards.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 29, that the clash occurred on the evening of October 27, 2026, in the Sarchashma and Qowaq areas near the Tajikistan border.

According to the sources, the individuals were transporting drugs across the border illegally when they encountered Tajik border guards in the Sarchashma area of Shamsiddin Shohin district in Tajikistan. An armed confrontation then broke out between the two sides.

The sources added that the smugglers were killed in the clash and their bodies were transferred to Afghanistan.

According to the sources, those involved in the incident were linked to a drug-smuggling network that they said has ties to “Haji Bashar Noorzai” and is managed by “Haji Ghulam Haidar Lang.”
