The Taliban have announced that 120 families, comprising 588 people, returned to Afghanistan through various border crossings on Wednesday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday, October 29, that 45 families, comprising 234 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing.
According to the statement, 19 families returned through the Spin Boldak crossing, 37 families crossed the border in Nimroz, and another 19 families returned through the Islam Qala crossing.
The return and forced deportation of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries continues as concerns grow over the living conditions and shelter needs of returning families with winter approaching.
Many of these families face difficulties meeting their basic needs, accessing adequate shelter, and protecting themselves from the winter cold.
The need for humanitarian assistance, particularly for homeless and vulnerable families, is expected to increase as temperatures drop.
