An Afghan citizen has been arrested in Uzbekistan’s city of Termez on charges of trafficking and selling drugs at the International Trade Center.
Qalampir, an Uzbek media outlet, reported on Saturday, August 22, that the Afghan citizen was arrested while allegedly selling opium to an undercover buyer for $2,500.
According to the report, the Afghan citizen was born in 2003 and was carrying 506 grams of opium at the time of his arrest.
The report said that the individual had secretly smuggled the drugs from a neighboring country (Afghanistan) and used one of his internal body organs to transport them.
Meanwhile, drug trafficking from Afghanistan to Central Asia and onward to Europe remains a major concern for countries in the region.
