The Afghan Embassy in Belgium, in support of the 16-Day Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence, has stated that the rights of Afghan women are non-negotiable.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 27 November 2025, the embassy said that violations of women’s rights by the Taliban are increasing every day.
According to the embassy, the Taliban have dismantled every mechanism that once safeguarded women’s rights since 2021.
The Afghan Embassy in Belgium stressed that although the Taliban seek to present a stable image of Afghanistan, they have imposed the most severe forms of deprivation on women.
The embassy added: “The international community must ensure that any engagement with the Taliban is conditioned on measurable and irreversible improvements in women’s rights and access to education, employment, and public life, especially since the current pragmatic approach has not reversed even a single repressive policy.”
The United Nations says that violence against Afghan women has increased by 40 percent over the past two years.
For more than four years, the Taliban have deprived women of their most fundamental rights, including education, work, personal freedoms, healthcare, and participation in society.
