Afghan journalists in exile have launched a campaign for the release of Shakib Nazari and Hamid Farhadi, journalists imprisoned by the Taliban.
The journalists called on the Taliban on Saturday, April 11, to release Shakib Nazari and Hamid Farhadi.
The Taliban military court has sentenced Shakib Nazari to three years in prison on charges of cooperating with a Japanese media outlet.
The Taliban military court has claimed that the journalist conducted propaganda against the Taliban and ignored the orders of the Taliban’s supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada.
Also, fighters of the Taliban’s Interior Ministry arrested Hamid Farhadi in Kabul on September 3, 2024.
This journalist has been sentenced to two years in prison on charges of “propaganda” against the Taliban and cooperation with the newspaper Etilaatroz.
He was sentenced on September 19 by a Taliban court to two years in prison and is currently he is in Bagram prison.
Since retaking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have consistently arrested journalists on charges of “propaganda” against the group.
