Britain has announced that approximately 22 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance and that the country will continue to support the people of Afghanistan, particularly women and girls.
The British Foreign Office said in a report published on Tuesday, June 9, that millions of people in Afghanistan are facing numerous humanitarian challenges, with climate change further compounding their already vulnerable situation.
The report states that Britain allocated more than $200 million in humanitarian and emergency aid for Afghanistan in the last fiscal year.
According to the report, British assistance last year reached at least 2.7 million people in Afghanistan, of whom 1.7 million were women and girls.
Britain has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that women and girls continue to make up at least half of all recipients of its aid.
The British Foreign Office stated that the country, working alongside partner organizations, is striving to maintain the participation of women in the delivery of humanitarian assistance and to guarantee their access to services and aid despite existing restrictions.
