The Afghanistan Without Polio organization has urged families to have their children vaccinated during a nationwide polio vaccination campaign set to begin this week.
The organization wrote on its X account on Saturday, October 31, that every family should do its part to make Afghanistan free of polio.
The campaign is scheduled to begin across Afghanistan on Monday, November 2.
The organization called on citizens to help prevent the spread of polio by ensuring their children receive vaccines during the campaign.
The campaign comes as Afghanistan remains one of only two countries where the poliovirus is still circulating.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has also announced that 12.7 million children in Afghanistan have been vaccinated against polio.
