Naseer Ahmad Faiq, acting head of Afghanistan’s permanent mission to the United Nations, stated that the mission has filed a complaint with the UN Security Council over Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghan territory.
Faiq, on Monday, February 23, added that the Pakistani airstrikes have killed civilians, including women and children.
He said, “We demand immediate investigation and cessation of these violations, accountability, respect for Afghanistan’s territorial integrity, adherence to the UN Charter, and full compliance with international law.”
Afghanistan’s permanent mission had condemned the airstrikes on Nangarhar and Paktika provinces the previous day.
Last night, Pakistan targeted the districts of Behsud and Khogyani in Nangarhar, as well as Barmal and Urgon districts in Paktika, with airstrikes.
Reports indicate that 18 members of a single family, including women and children, were killed in the Behsud district, Nangarhar.
Pakistan claimed that approximately 70 “terrorists” were killed in attacks on seven alleged hideouts.
The Taliban condemned the strikes and warned that they would respond at an appropriate time.
