Amnesty International Calls Pakistan Council’s Expulsion Order Discriminatory

Amnesty International has described the decision by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to expel Afghanistan students as discriminatory and arbitrary, warning of its consequences.

The organization wrote on its X account on Tuesday, September 8, that the consequences of the decision would be particularly severe for female students who have been deprived of education due to Taliban harassment and persecution.

The human rights organization stressed that Pakistan has obligations under international human rights law to protect the right to education without discrimination.

Amnesty International called on Pakistan to reconsider the decision and adopt a humane and practical solution that would allow Afghanistan students, including women, to complete their education.

This comes as the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council recently ordered students from Afghanistan to leave the country and also asked Pakistani universities to refrain from enrolling students from Afghanistan.
