Austria’s Interior Ministry has announced that it has deported an Afghan national accused of drug trafficking to Kabul.

The ministry said on Sunday, November 9, that the man had attempted to sell narcotics in Vienna but was arrested by police officers and sentenced to prison.

According to the statement, he was first transferred to Turkey and then flown to Kabul yesterday.

This marks the second case of an Afghan citizen being deported from Austria for a criminal offense.

Earlier, Taliban diplomats had traveled to Austria for talks regarding the repatriation of Afghan citizens convicted of crimes.

Germany has also deported around 80 Afghan refugees found guilty of criminal offenses back to Kabul this year.
