Sources say that dozens of armed Taliban fighters entered Shekay District from Kuf Ab District and have been stationed in the district center.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, July 4, 2026, that following the arrival of these forces in the area, changes were made to several Taliban administrative and security positions in Shekay and Nusay districts.

According to the sources, as part of this process, a new Taliban intelligence director was appointed in Kuf Ab, and several local Taliban officials were removed from their positions.

The sources said that Taliban intelligence directors in several areas, including Kuf Ab, Shekay, and Nusay, have been dismissed and replaced with new appointees.

The sources also claim that an individual named Musa Kaka, who had previously been imprisoned in Kunduz, was taken by the Taliban to gather people affiliated with him and disarm them.

The sources further stated that in Shekay, an individual named Mullah Abdul Ghani was also armed and deployed to confront people affiliated with Juma Khan Fateh to assist in the process of arresting and summoning members of that group.

These measures are being carried out as tensions continue to rise in Badakhshan, and the security situation in some parts of the province has been described as increasingly concerning.
