Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, has said that Canada and European countries are expanding their cooperation based on shared values, including democracy, the rule of law, and pluralism.
Carney wrote on X on Saturday, May 9, that on the occasion of Europe Day, Canada and Europe are seeking to create new strategic partnerships and increase their trade exchanges.
He added that Canada and Europe will continue their strong support for Ukraine.
The Canadian prime minister stressed that in a more uncertain world, cooperation between Canada and Europe can bring greater certainty, security, and prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.
These remarks come as the Russia–Ukraine War and rising security tensions in Europe have increased political and economic cooperation among Western countries.
