The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that 109 commercial vessels have been rerouted in the region as part of the naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said on X late Sunday, September 20, that the vessels had been rerouted as of September 20.
The U.S. military said the commercial vessels were rerouted to ensure full compliance with the naval blockade of Iran.
This comes a day after CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper said that one billion barrels of oil had passed through the Strait of Hormuz with the support of the U.S. military. He added, however, that Iran’s share of the exported oil was zero.
Iran, meanwhile, claims to have full control over the Strait of Hormuz and says only vessels with Iranian authorization can pass through the strait.
