In the past month, 20 individuals lost their lives in various incidents across the provinces of Herat, Badghis, Ghor, Nimruz, and Farah. During this period, the Taliban executed a former military officer and a civilian. Additionally, several civilian killings have been attributed to unidentified armed individuals. Approximately five Taliban fighters also died during this time. Moreover, three individuals, including a woman, committed suicide in the provinces of Herat and Farah.

Findings from this report indicate that four militants and the son of a Taliban commander were executed in Ghor and Nimruz provinces over the past month. Members of this group also shot and killed a former military officer and a civilian in Farah and Badghis provinces.

According to the report’s findings, including the son of the Taliban’s security chief in Nimruz, 10 others were killed in Badghis, Ghor, and Farah provinces. Unidentified armed individuals have been held responsible for these killings, but no further details about these incidents have been released.

During this period, three individuals, including a 17-year-old girl, committed suicide in Herat and Farah provinces. The reasons for these suicides include poverty, domestic violence, and psychological pressures stemming from Taliban rule.

However, reports from Herat indicate that two individuals were murdered and two others committed suicide in the province over the past month. According to sources, unidentified individuals abducted a seven-year-old girl from the fifteenth district of the city and brutally killed her after a sexual assault. Initially, the Taliban remained silent on this matter, but about two weeks after the incident, officials from the group’s police headquarters in Herat confirmed it and reported the arrest of one person in connection with the case. The Taliban claimed to have apprehended an individual from the Injil district who allegedly assaulted and then murdered the seven-year-old girl.

In another incident, a young man reportedly killed his father about a week ago in the “Ganj” village of the Kushk Robat Sangi district in Herat due to family problems. Additionally, in the past week, a teenage girl and boy hanged themselves in the Farsi and Karukh districts of Herat due to domestic violence and economic difficulties. Sources informed the Hasht-e Subh Daily that a 14-year-old teenager also hanged himself in the Bala Buluk district of Farah because of family issues.

Meanwhile, the Taliban executed a young man in the Lash Wa Juwayan district of Farah Province. They claimed that this man was shot for failing to stop at one of their checkpoints.

Moreover, unidentified armed individuals entered a private clinic in the first district of Farah city two weeks ago, fatally stabbing a doctor and injuring his pregnant wife. A source stated that the father of this doctor was a well-known figure in the previous government, leading to suspicions that the Taliban may be behind this incident.

As insecurity and rising criminal activities continue in the western provinces of the country, five individuals, including a former military officer, were killed over the past month. Sources from Badghis reported that a young man from the Sang-e Atash district was killed with knife wounds in the fifth district of Qala-i Naw, the provincial capital of Badghis. Additionally, three individuals, including two brothers, were shot dead over a land dispute in the Tagab-e Alam district of Badghis during the past month.

Meanwhile, a source from Badghis confirmed to the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the Taliban shot a former military officer about three weeks ago after arresting him. The source added that the former officer, named Nasir Ahmad, had served in the Badghis police headquarters during the previous government. While Nasir Ahmad worked as a civilian, the urban section of the Taliban intelligence agency in Badghis detained him and executed him several hours later in the Chakar area of Qala-i Naw City, the provincial capital.

However, the Taliban claimed that a grenade was found in the pocket of this former military officer. Yet, a local source told the Hasht-e Subh Daily that local Taliban officials had criticized the urban intelligence department for targeting the group’s fighters in Qala-i Naw, which led them to arrest and execute this former military officer.

Statistics obtained by the Hasht-e Subh Daily indicate that in the past month, four individuals, including the son of the Taliban’s security chief in Nimruz, were shot dead. According to this information, unidentified gunmen shot dead Sa’ad, the son of the Taliban’s security chief in Nimruz, and one of his companions at his home last week.

Meanwhile, provided statistics show that a young man was found hanging in the Pol Abrisham area, and another young man was found shot dead in the Chakhansur district of Nimruz during the past month.

Furthermore, reports received by the Hasht-e Subh Daily reveal that unidentified gunmen killed a prominent tribal leader about 20 days ago in one of the villages near Firozkoh, the provincial center of Ghor. Recently, unidentified gunmen also killed three Taliban members on the Shahrak-Firozkoh road, with both the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan and ISIS claiming responsibility for the attack.

Over the past three years, the Taliban have consistently claimed to ensure nationwide security and announced a general amnesty. However, during this period, they continued to arrest, seek revenge, and kill their opponents, former military personnel, and former government employees. Previously, residents of Takhar have expressed deep concerns over the rise in insecurity and armed robberies.
