Local sources report that the death toll from the attack by unidentified gunmen on Daikundi residents has risen to 14. Sources have told the Hasht-e Subh Daily that the attack occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in the Pahloosang mountain pass in Ghor province, near the border with Daikundi’s Sangtakht and Bandar districts.
The Hasht-e Subh Daily obtained a list showing that all the victims were men. The attack also left four others wounded. Sources revealed that the gunmen initially stopped the vehicle carrying residents from Sangtakht and Bandar districts before opening fire.
The sources indicated that four unidentified gunmen carried out the attack. The victims were en route to welcome pilgrims returning from Karbala when they were shot. The motive and perpetrators of the attack remain unclear, and the Taliban have not commented on the incident.
It is worth mentioning that Shia Muslims in Afghanistan occasionally face such attacks.
