The European Union in Afghanistan has announced that it will provide €250,000 in humanitarian aid to support the most vulnerable individuals.
The EU reported on Thursday, March 26, that this initiative comes in response to the increasing number of displaced people due to intensified conflicts, as well as to support those who were affected by last year’s earthquakes.
The European Union stated that this funding will cover approximately 70,000 people in the provinces of Khost, Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Paktika, and Paktia.
According to the report, EU aid will support the Red Crescent in delivering much-needed relief, including distributing food and cash assistance to address the most urgent needs, as well as providing emergency shelter.
The EU added that it is also expected to provide access to primary health care, safe water and sanitation, and other essential services.
The funding is part of the EU’s overall contribution to the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The EU says it is one of the largest donors in Afghanistan, having allocated more than €161 million for humanitarian aid in 2025.
