Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has called for concrete action to ensure justice and accountability for the people of Afghanistan.

On Wednesday, November 4, Faiq wrote on his X account that he had emphasised the need to ensure justice in Afghanistan during a United Nations General Assembly meeting on the International Criminal Court’s report.

He said that the four arrest warrants issued against senior Taliban officials must be enforced. He also stressed the importance of protecting victims, preserving evidence, and preventing reprisals.

Faiq added that the international community’s engagement with the Taliban must not lead to the overlooking of repression or impunity.

He also said that Afghanistan needs an inclusive, Afghan-led political process in cooperation with the United Nations, one that is based on the rights and aspirations of the people.

Faiq stressed that lasting peace in Afghanistan is impossible without justice and that accountability has no credibility without concrete action.
