The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that the devastating earthquakes in eastern Afghanistan severely threaten the livestock sector.
The organization said on Monday, September 1, in a message posted on its X page that more than one million head of livestock are located in the affected districts, and assessments continue to fully understand the impacts of the earthquake.
The organization added that in Kunar, districts near the earthquake’s epicenter are at risk of damage and losing their livelihoods, and in Nangarhar, densely populated districts are facing severe food shortages.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization has announced that efforts continue to provide urgent assistance and support to livestock farmers and farmers so that families can rebuild their source of income.
