Fawzia Koofi, a former member of Afghanistan’s parliament and a women’s rights advocate, says the Taliban have seized her personal residence in Afghanistan and detained members of her family.
Koofi said in a statement on Saturday, May 2, that the Taliban seized her home three months ago.
According to her, members of her family and relatives had moved to another location, but last week the Taliban raided again and detained several of them.
Koofi added that the Taliban also arrested some residents of Badakhshan Province who were not even related to her.
She did not provide details about the identity or number of those detained.
The statement said that the families of the detainees have no information about their fate, health condition, or situation.
It also noted that two of the detainees had existing health problems.
The former representative of Badakhshan in parliament described the Taliban’s action as “cowardly.”
Koofi stressed that despite this, she will continue her struggle against the Taliban.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter.
This comes after Shahabuddin Delawar, a senior member of the Taliban’s Invitation Commission of the Taliban, recently invited Koofi to return to Afghanistan.
