Funding cuts to Afghanistan’s health sector have led to the closure of nearly 600 health clinics across the country.
Al Jazeera reported on Wednesday, September 9, that the closures have left millions of people without access to basic healthcare.
According to the report, residents of remote areas have been affected the most, with their access to healthcare becoming more difficult.
Cuts in financial support have also created serious challenges for the operation of health facilities.
This comes as Afghanistan’s health sector remains dependent on foreign assistance, while funding cuts threaten access to healthcare for millions of people.
