Guterres wrote on the X platform on Monday night, May 4, that in a world where artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly, the need for frameworks, accountability, and shared global standards is more urgent than ever.
He made these remarks following a meeting with Yoshua Bengio, a member of the United Nations Scientific Advisory Board.
The UN Secretary-General added that the expertise of this advisory body is essential to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits everyone and belongs to all.
This comes as concerns grow globally about how artificial intelligence technologies are being governed and used.
