Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has said that the climate crisis involves two forms of injustice, creating inequalities both among countries and across generations.

In a post on X on Sunday, November 8, Guterres said the first form of injustice exists between countries, as those that have contributed the least to the climate crisis are suffering the most from its consequences.

He added that the second form of injustice exists between generations, as the pollution produced today will leave future generations to bear the costs.

The UN Secretary-General said he was travelling to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), where he would call for more urgent action and greater efforts to address the climate crisis.
