Hasina Jalal has won the 2026 Carolyn Dexter Award from the Academy of Management for her joint paper with Forouzan Danish and David Nwraeth.
Hasina Jalal told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, September 26, that the paper, titled “Learning Despite the Challenges,” examines the efforts of women in Afghanistan to continue learning under conditions in which formal avenues of education have been closed to them.
She said the award is more than an academic honour for her and that international recognition of research into the efforts and resilience of women in Afghanistan is particularly important.
Jalal expressed hope that the recognition would amplify the voices of women and girls in Afghanistan and demonstrate that being deprived of education cannot erase their aspirations or ability to learn.
The Carolyn Dexter Award is presented by the Academy of Management to a paper that, in line with the academy’s internationalisation mission, offers research with a global perspective and a deep understanding of diverse contexts.
