Many impoverished families in Herat say the lack of humanitarian assistance, unemployment, Taliban restrictions, and the approaching winter have placed them in difficult circumstances.

Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, October 3, that increasing poverty and economic hardships have left them unable to meet the basic needs of themselves and their families.

According to the sources, people’s living conditions have become extremely difficult over the past five years. At the same time, employment opportunities for men have declined, while women are also unable to work.

They say that during this period, their relatively comfortable lives in the past have disappeared, and providing daily food for their families has now become a serious challenge.

The sources also say that the spread of poverty and economic hardships has created conditions for an increase in insecurity and theft.

With winter approaching, they say they are concerned about meeting their families’ basic needs and warn that if the situation continues, life will become even more difficult for impoverished families.
