Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has said that the lifting of sanctions against Tehran depends on a “change in behavior” by Tehran.
The Al Jazeera network reported on Monday, 15 June, that the President of the European Commission described sanctions against Iran as related to human rights violations and weapons of mass destruction.
According to the report, Ursula von der Leyen said that without a change in Iran’s behavior, it is not possible to consider lifting sanctions.
The President of the European Commission said, “If behavior is changing in a credible and verifiable way, you can lift sanctions.”
Following the crackdown on protests in the winter last year in Iran, relations between the country and the European Union have become more tense.
