An Iranian body responsible for managing the Persian Gulf waterway has warned vessels using the southern routes through the Strait of Hormuz of potential damage.
Tasnim reported early Sunday, September 27, that the Iranian body also announced restrictions on vessel owners who ignore Iran’s warnings.
According to the report, the Persian Gulf waterway management body has described the southern routes through the Strait of Hormuz, which are outside Iran’s control, as “invalid.”
The body said: “Reports have been submitted to the PGSA stating that some charterers are forcing vessels to use invalid routes.”
According to the body, doing so could expose vessels, their owners, captains and crews to financial and physical harm, while also subjecting the vessels to serious restrictions on future passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
This comes as Iran recently presented the United States with a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, but the proposal was rejected by U.S. President Donald Trump.
