Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said Moscow may agree to the transfer of S-400 systems from Turkey to another country, provided that country is friendly toward Russia.
TASS reported early Sunday, September 27, that Lavrov made the remarks on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to the report, Lavrov said that if such a request were made, Russia would be prepared to allow the systems to be transferred to such a country.
Lavrov said Moscow’s approval of the transfer of the systems to a third country would depend on that country being friendly toward Russia.
The remarks come as Turkey’s purchase of S-400 systems from Russia, despite being a NATO member, had caused tensions between Ankara and the United States and other NATO members.
