Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, has accused the United States of having no interest in pursuing a diplomatic solution with Iran.
According to a report by Al Jazeera on Monday night, June 8, Ghalibaf emphasized both resistance and negotiations at what he described as the appropriate time.
The Iranian parliament speaker said the United States is seeking neither a ceasefire nor dialogue.
Ghalibaf also stated that Iran would turn any naval blockade into “another failure” for the United States.
He added that Iran’s objective is to end the war and establish lasting security, stressing that Tehran has no trust in Washington.
Tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States have escalated in recent days.
Over the past several days, Iranian and U.S. forces have reportedly carried out reciprocal missile and drone attacks against one another in the Strait of Hormuz.
Fresh missile and air strikes were also exchanged between Iran and Israel on the previous night.
Meanwhile, Washington and Tehran are engaged in talks mediated by Pakistan. However, it remains unclear whether the negotiations will lead to an agreement to end the conflict.
