Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that its naval forces targeted a US unmanned military vessel capable of remote control near the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC said in a statement on Sunday, September 6, that the vessel had allegedly been attempting to enter the protected area of the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC added that its naval forces are monitoring the movements of “enemy” forces in the area and will respond to any action.
The group also warned that the United States should leave the region and stop what the IRGC described as “hostile actions.”
The claim comes amid rising military tensions between Iran and the United States in the region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military has denied Iran’s claim that it targeted an American unmanned vessel.
