Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, has said that Moscow will not halt its military offensive against Ukraine for negotiations in any format.
TASS reported on Wednesday night, September 23, that Lavrov made the remarks at a United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
According to the report, Lavrov claimed that Europe is seeking an opportunity to regroup and replenish Ukraine’s military arsenals.
“Learning from the bitter lessons of the past, we will not stop the special military operation during negotiations, regardless of the format,” he said.
The remarks come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has twice expressed his readiness in recent days to hold direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
