Mohammad Muhaqiq, leader of the Islamic Unity Party of the People of Afghanistan, condemned the explosion at a school in western Kabul and held the Taliban accountable for ensuring the security of the people.

Muhaqiq said in a statement on Tuesday, August 18, that as the group controls Afghanistan, the Taliban are responsible for protecting the lives, property and dignity of people in areas under their control.

Muhaqiq described the incident as “tragic” and said targeting children who were engaged in education and learning demonstrates the cruelty and brutality of those responsible.

More than 52 people were injured in an explosion that occurred yesterday at Sham-e Hedayat Private School in Mahdia Township, Dasht-e Barchi, in Kabul’s 18th security district.
