Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban, has said that four civilians were killed in Pakistani airstrikes on parts of Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces.
Mujahid strongly condemned the attacks in a statement on Thursday, September 24, calling them a “blatant act of aggression.”
The Taliban spokesman reiterated that the attacks “will not go unanswered.”
Mujahid added that Pakistan had carried out airstrikes on Afghan territory to justify what he described as its inability to address domestic problems.
Pakistan carried out airstrikes on parts of Khost, Kandahar and Paktia provinces early Thursday, September 24.
However, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s minister for information, said in a statement that the strikes were carried out in response to the entry of eight drones allegedly belonging to the Taliban into Pakistani territory.
Tarar added that Pakistan carried out the strikes as part of its sovereign right to self-defense.
