Unknown assailants have reportedly shot and killed a local Taliban commander in Paktika province, according to local sources. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 30, in the village of Spina in the Omna district.
The victim, identified as Mullah Khalid, served as a commander in the Taliban’s security forces in the Omna district. He was attacked by armed individuals while en route to his home, as stated by the sources.
As of now, the Taliban has not released any statements regarding the incident, and no group has claimed responsibility for the killing of the local Taliban commander.
It is worth mentioning that a Taliban military base in the Gomal district of Paktika province was recently targeted in an armed attack as well. However, the “National Islamic and Freedom Movement of Afghanistan” claimed responsibility for that attack. According to their statement, at least four Taliban fighters were killed as a result of the assault.
