Sources in Baghlan say a young man who graduated from the Faculty of Economics was murdered about 17 days ago in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital.
The sources said on Friday, October 30, that the young man was killed by unidentified individuals just a few meters from a Taliban fighters’ checkpoint.
According to the information, the killing took place about one kilometer from the Taliban’s provincial police headquarters in Baghlan and just 100 meters from the group’s intelligence office.
More than two weeks after the killing, the perpetrators have still not been identified or arrested.
This comes despite the Taliban’s claims of ensuring nationwide security. Insecurity, mysterious killings, arrests, disappearances, and armed robberies have reportedly increased sharply under the group’s rule.
