Sources in Panjshir say the Taliban have arrested three more residents of the province’s Abdullah Khil Valley in connection with an explosion targeting a vehicle belonging to their fighters.
The sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Friday, October 30, that the three residents were from Abdullah Khil Valley and were all arrested on October 29.
According to the information, the newly arrested residents are Abdul Wahid, Mashallah, and Rafiullah, all of whom live in Abdullah Khil Valley.
Sources said that following the explosion of a vehicle carrying Taliban fighters in the valley, for which the Green Trend claimed responsibility, the Taliban have intensified arrests of local residents.
They added that Taliban fighters searched areas around the site of the explosion and arrested 24 people in the first wave of detentions.
The sources further said that following a change in the Taliban unit stationed in Abdullah Khil, newly deployed fighters have increasingly harassed local residents. In one incident, they allegedly followed a man who had left his home to perform ablution back to his house and beat him.
Three days earlier, sources had also reported the arrest of five Panjshir residents in connection with the explosion targeting the Taliban vehicle.
Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, pressure on the people of Panjshir has intensified to an unprecedented level. In numerous cases, Taliban fighters have arrested, tortured, and killed residents of the province.
