The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Norway has contributed more than $1 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
OCHA said on Monday, September 21, that Norway had contributed 15 million Norwegian kroner, equivalent to $1.63 million, to Afghanistan.
According to OCHA, the contribution will support the ongoing humanitarian response to the needs of millions of people across Afghanistan, including vulnerable families and those affected by humanitarian crises.
Afghanistan continues to face one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises.
Drought, poverty, displacement, the return of migrants, and vulnerability to natural disasters have increased the need for humanitarian assistance across the country.
