The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says thousands of returnees in Kunduz are facing shortages of essential services as winter approaches.

The office wrote on X on Tuesday, October 20, that returning families are facing difficult living conditions on the eve of winter.

OCHA stressed that these families urgently need sustained humanitarian assistance.

According to the agency, continued assistance is essential to meeting the basic needs of returning families and preventing their situation from deteriorating further.

Returnees to Afghanistan, particularly families returning to the country without adequate resources, need increased humanitarian assistance to secure shelter, food, healthcare, and other necessities.
