Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has announced that, as part of its ongoing “Ghazab Lil Haq” operation, Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on two hideouts belonging to groups referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan” and their affiliates in Afghanistan.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday, October 1, that the strikes were carried out at two locations based on “credible intelligence,” killing 22 “terrorists.”
The statement added that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also destroyed in the strikes.
This comes as Taliban officials have said that the casualties of the strikes were civilians, including women and children.
Pakistan carried out airstrikes on areas in Kunar and Helmand provinces on Thursday morning.
According to Taliban officials, the strikes killed nine civilians and injured 11 others.
