Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, has stated that Russia seeks lasting peace with Ukraine, and that such peace will only be achieved when Russia secures its interests and achieves the goals of its special military operation.
Peskov said in an interview with the Vesti network on Sunday, April 12, that Ukrainians have proposed a halt to attacks, but the matter is quite simple: Russia wants a lasting peace, and such peace can only be achieved when its interests are ensured, and the goals set from the very beginning are attained.
The Kremlin spokesperson added that the goals of the special operation have been clear from the beginning and are still being pursued, and there have been no changes in Russia’s position.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated into a full-scale military phase in February 2022, and since then, numerous proposals and efforts have been made to establish a ceasefire.
