The Polio Free Afghanistan initiative has announced that a polio vaccination campaign will be conducted on Tuesday in parts of Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
The organization wrote on its X page on Sunday, July 5, that the campaign will be carried out in Kandahar city, Lashkar Gah, and the districts of Nahri Saraj, Musa Qala, Washir, Nad Ali, and Marjah.
It is said that the campaign aims to administer polio vaccines to children and prevent the spread of poliovirus.
The Polio Free Afghanistan Initiative had previously also urged families to take part in the fight against polio by ensuring the timely vaccination of their children.
Polio vaccination campaigns in Afghanistan continue at a time when limited access to some areas, the constant movement of families, and the number of children missing vaccinations remain among the main challenges to eradicating the disease.
