The Polio Free Afghanistan initiative has announced that, to prevent the spread of the poliovirus, everyone traveling between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran should be vaccinated.
In a post on X on Monday, June 29, the initiative said that vaccination of all travelers, regardless of age, is essential to prevent the transmission of the poliovirus.
The initiative said the measure aims to break the chain of poliovirus transmission among the three countries, which continue to face the risk of polio outbreaks.
The Polio Free Afghanistan initiative urged people traveling between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran to receive the polio vaccine to help prevent the spread of the virus.
The announcement comes as polio vaccination campaigns continue across Afghanistan, with health authorities emphasizing the need to expand vaccination coverage, particularly in border areas.
